JAMES P. MARUSAK
JAMES P. MARUSAK, currently of counsel, was a partner at the firm for over thirty-five years, engaging in general litigation and appellate matters.
Education //
Mr. Marusak received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Providence College in 1977; attended the University of Fribourg, Switzerland during his junior year in 1975-76; and received his J.D. in 1980 from the Catholic University of America.
Professional Experience //
Mr. Marusak was formerly the Town Solicitor for the Towns of Exeter and Hopkinton, Rhode Island. He was counsel to the minority leader of the Rhode Island House of Representatives and previously served as the Town Solicitor for the Town of Lincoln, Rhode Island. He is currently a member of the House of Delegates of the Rhode Island Bar Association and served as past Chair of the Municipal Law Committee. He also served as counsel for the 1986 State Constitutional Convention, Committee on the Executive and Independent Agencies.
Mr. Marusak has litigated numerous cases through the trial and appellate levels and has over 50 reported case decisions. He has authored several published works on real estate, boundary, title, and constitutional matters and has been a guest lecturer and panelist at Roger Williams University School of Law and various Bar Association events. In addition, he received Public Service Awards from the Environment Council of Rhode Island and Common Cause of Rhode Island for his advocacy in the landmark “Separation of Powers” case.

Mr. Marusak is a member of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Districts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the Circuit Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
